Joannie Rochette's performance

I don't know if anyone in the world would be able to pull off an ice skating performance as good as Joannie Rochette did, after losing a parent. She performed only two days after her mother's death, i wouldn't be able to do that for sure, but she is strong and pulled it off with grace and won the silver medal. The crowd seemed to love her even more every time she'd land a flip or a jump, roaring out their excitement. When her performance ended, she burst into tears, bending over with her hands on her legs. When she came back up sobbing, she went into her coach's arms. Every body from friends to rivals were there to offer support and there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd . No matter what nation you are, when you watch her performance and know what kind of an emotional roller coaster she is on, your heart goes out to her and what ever feelings you had about her, it quickly changes.

Christine Nesbitt wins gold!

Chritine Nesbitt, Canadian speed skater, won a gold medal in the 1000m race. Nesbitt is the kind of person who needs to win, so when she won her gold medal at the olympics, you can imagine how happy she was. For her, having fun is winning and she is determined to have fun.
Once again, our Canadians make us proud and this year seems to be on a roll, many canadians are winning medals, which is a good thing!

GO Maelle Ricker GO!!

She is the first Canadian woman to earn a goal medal on home soil. She did it during the snowboard cross competition, she's the world's no. 1 ranked snowboard cross competitor. By the time she crossed the finish line in the big final, she had a generous lead over the other competitors. This sport, like many others, is dangerous because you can lose control at any split second. Maelle learned that four years ago when she crashed at the Turin Olympics and was left unconscious, she does not recall the incident. This year, she returned without hesitation and took her courage to the finish line, making her family, friends, and her country proud of her. The coolest thing or her was to have done this in her home province and the city where she grew up in.

Patrick Chan...

Nobody knows what happened to the normally great Patrick Chan, not even himself. His sport is figure skating, he does it with such grace and ease but on Tuesday the 16Th of February, its like the world turned upside down. He said that he went over the routine in is head over and over again before his performance but he doesn't understand what happened that made him perform badly. He was given a disappointing score of 81.12, he bobbled on his opening triple Axel, had an uncharacteristic stumble during his step sequence, where he normally gathers huge marks, and received a one-point deduction for a going too long on his music. However he does not dwell on the past but looks forward to the future, a really good attitude for a competitor. He says he's going to sit back and pretend he's having a hard time then he's going to "attack" by delivering an outstanding performance as he usually does. So I say, good luck Patrick Chan and do your very best.

Birthday girl wins silver medal!

It was Wednesday February 17, 2010, but it was also Marianne St.Gelais birthday AND she won second place in the women's 500-meter short-track speed skating final at the 2010 Olympics! What an awesome gift! This is a birthday she will never forget. She was really happy to have won her medal, especially when it means she's almost as good as the current world and Olympic record holder, now that is not something to be disappointed about. Event her competitors are proud of her. Her boyfriend, who holds the world record in the 1,000-metre speed skating, ( from Levis, Quebec) bought her some Flowers and some clothes but he is going to have to work really hard next year to top off this gift that she won herself!

John Montgomery's performance 2010 olympics

John Montgomery is a CANADIAN competitor in this year's winter Olympics. The sport he is competing in is called skeleton; its like the luge, but instead the sled is ridden face first. So far, he has come in second place after doing his two runs, he is still confident for his last run which is good. Even if he comes in second or last, i would like to congratulate him on just having the guts to participate in such a sport! I mean, have you seen how scary it looks? Your going down a steep ICE track on a super tiny, skinny sled, wearing a super thin layer of clothes so you can go faster down the slope, and to top that off, your going at 90 miles an hour ( that's 144 kilometers an hour!!!) I'm pretty sure not many of us would have the guts to do that so, again i congratulate him on first of all, his awesome performance and second of all, his courage for doing it.

Alexandre Bilodeau! :)

Canada ought to be proud of its very own Alexandre Bilodeau, THE first Canadian to win an Olympic title on his country's soil, and that that medal is a gold one is even more impressive. To top that off, he did it at the very beginning of the Olympic games! It makes people want to watch it, people who might not be interested in sports. He did everything by the book, heck he may even make it in the history books thanks to this awesome performance. Not only did he win, he won with a .17 lead over the other competitors! This is a moment that will mark our Canadian history forever.

2010 Olympics-Opening Ceremonies!!

I have always loved opening ceremonies for any kind of event or show but the 2010 Olympics' opening ceremonies top my best-of list. I loved it when the Canadian snowboarder jumped through the Olympic rings with snow exploding with him, i just think every thing about it radiates the Canadian theme. I was also really impressed by the 16 year old Nikki Yanofsky who sang the national anthem, she did an extraordinary job. I thought the Natives' performance was heartwarming because they are the true representatives of Canada and they did a really good job of showing that. However the most memorable part of the show for me was when the snowboarders and skiers were pretending to glide down a mountain. It was so graceful, and I can't believe how hard it must have been to do that as perfectly and as nicely as they did. Like I said earlier, i love watching opening ceremonies, but this one definitely tops my list.
