She is the first Canadian woman to earn a goal medal on home soil. She did it during the snowboard cross competition, she's the world's no. 1 ranked snowboard cross competitor. By the time she crossed the finish line in the big final, she had a generous lead over the other competitors. This sport, like many others, is dangerous because you can lose control at any split second. Maelle learned that four years ago when she crashed at the Turin Olympics and was left unconscious, she does not recall the incident. This year, she returned without hesitation and took her courage to the finish line, making her family, friends, and her country proud of her. The coolest thing or her was to have done this in her home province and the city where she grew up in.
